We had a decent turnout for the December Meetup on Saturday at Patapsco High School. We had a few coaches who were able to attend, as well as a few students from APPlied Club teams around the county, and a few prospective coaches and middle school students (even one 4th grader!). We were very pleased with the turnout and hope that next time we have even more participants!
The morning was full of speakers talking to us about a variety of topics related to mobile app development and careers in technology. If you weren’t able to make it, we have some of the highlights from speakers’ talks posted on the blog. During lunch, students had an opportunity to meet and chat with each other, as well as the coaches and speakers who were present. It was great to see all of the different conversations that were occurring and the networking that was taking place. During the afternoon workshop, students and coaches had an opportunity to work with Titanium to get a sneak peek of the School App Project that is coming soon.

Despite having a rough time getting started with Titanium and the setup process, the students and coaches really impressed us with what they were able to accomplish in a short period of time! It was awesome to see students helping coaches and helping each other. When one person figured out something, they were willing to share that with everyone and it made for a really enjoyable workshop. (Our student app developers and their coaches really are the best!)
One student in particular, Terrell from Chesapeake High School, was able to customize the template quite a bit. We wanted to recognize Terrell independently because he was really helpful to the coaches and students around him and when he figured out something, he was very willing to share with anyone who wanted to do the same thing on their template. His app template was very impressive when we finished:

All of the students worked really hard and did a great job with being patient with Titanium, which was new to most of them. They also had impressive projects when we stopped working and you can see some of them in the Meetup Gallery below. We can’t wait to work with more these students on app development in the future!
